SSM listed in WHED (IAU/UNESCO): a new global excellence milestone for International Career Traceability

Maintained by the International Association of Universities (IAU) in collaboration with UNESCO, the WHED is the world’s most authoritative and trusted international directory of recognized higher education institutions.

Far from being a commercial listing, the WHED registry maps approximately 21,000 higher education institutions globally, each officially recognized by their respective national authorities. Being listed in this database places SSM alongside the world’s most prestigious and elite institutions, seamlessly connecting our community with global elite universities, world-renowned research hubs, and historical pillars like Harvard University and Stanford University in the USA, the University of Oxford in the UK, and Sorbonne Université in France. This premier network also encompasses top-tier international business schools and global leaders in executive education and management, such as INSEAD (France/Singapore), London Business School (UK), and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (USA). Furthermore, it highlights key Italian academic benchmarks and highly competitive institutions, including Bocconi University / SDA BocconiPolitecnico di Milano, and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, reinforcing the elite global ecosystem to which SSM proudly belongs.

Swiss School of Management aligns directly with the WHED framework and its governing bodies. This connection guarantees that all offered programs fully meet the global quality benchmarks required for database inclusion, formally validating SSM as an institution approved by UNESCO through the IAU.

The core pillars defining SSM’s compliance and standing within the WHED system include:

  • Official recognition & digital traceability (Global WHED ID); the SSM ID officially certifies our international status and streamlines the digitalization and global traceability of our students’ academic credentials and careers.
  • Higher Education Degree Programs; in strict alignment with WHED criteria, SSM fulfills these requirements by delivering degree programs covering the entire university cycle: Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s / MBA (Master in Business Administration and Doctorate / DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration).
  • International profile and multi-sampus structure; WHED profiles comprehensively map out the legal status and geographical footprint of universities. SSM perfectly embodies this global model as a private institution with an extensive international network. While holding its headquarters and historical offices in Switzerland, its main operational campus is based in Rome (Italy), with a key institutional presence in Texas (USA), alongside numerous active learning centers worldwide, including Dubai, Barcelona, Malta, and Cairo.

This registration serves as an institutional acknowledgement of its international academic status, aligning SSM within the same regulatory and educational framework governing the world’s leading universities and top-tier business schools. Consequently, this inclusion ensures formal institutional transparency by providing a global certification that supports connected careers, offering students a validated credential standard recognized by governments, corporations, and academic bodies worldwide.
Consequently, the assignment of a unique database identification code ensures international career traceability, facilitating the official digitalization, portability, and cross-border recognition of graduates’ credentials to support their integration into the global job market.
