Strategic evolution of SSM’s Academic portfolio: new MBA and EMBA programs

Swiss School of Management continues its path of academic development, aiming to align its educational offerings with the shifting demands of the global market. Through the revision of study programs and the proposal of new specializations, currently under final review by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), SSM strengthens its international positioning by integrating emerging industry trends and managerial skills required by modern organizations.

Today’s job market requires a highly targeted approach to skills development. For this reason, SSM has structured two distinct pathways designed to meet different career stages and scheduling needs.

The 18-month MBA program is designed as a comprehensive academic solution for those who wish to consolidate a holistic view of business management through in-depth study and analysis.

Focusing on the development of advanced analytical skills, corporate strategy, and leadership, the curriculum culminates in a Final Thesis Paper where students research a real-world business issue, followed by an oral defense (Viva Voce examination) to verify the integration of acquired skills.

This pathway is ideal for candidates seeking a solid theoretical foundation combined with rigorous research practice.

Specifically structured for senior professionals who require a rapid, highly applicable management update, the EMBA focuses on strategic leadership, change management, and complex problem-solving in corporate environments.

Through a highly pragmatic and results-oriented training structure, the program concludes with a Capstone Project, an applied project addressing a practical business challenge while leveraging the participant’s professional experience, making it the ideal choice for managers and experienced professionals who need to balance their studies with intensive work commitments.

Explore now the frequently asked questions our advisors receive during the admissions phase, which are designed to help you carefully and realistically plan this high-level educational journey and discover how the SSM learning model concretely supports students in managing their academic path.

Embarking on a high-level educational journey requires careful, realistic planning. Below are the most common questions our advisors receive during the admissions phase, along with details on how the SSM learning model supports students:

#1 Will I be able to follow my MBA courses while working and having a family?
Yes. Our modules are designed on a monthly basis. Each month, a single course starts, runs, and concludes, including its final exam.

This sequential approach ensures that you can focus on one subject at a time without the risk of falling behind. Furthermore, the regular MBA classes are held in the evening, with two sessions per week from 18:00 to 21:00 (6 PM to 9 PM).

To ensure maximum flexibility, students can choose to attend lectures in person at our campus, fully online, or via a hybrid format.

#2 Do I run the risk of missing courses, falling behind with exams, and delaying my graduation?
No. The SSM study method is specifically designed to help students stay on track and avoid going past their expected graduation date.

Currently, the percentage of SSM candidates who experience a temporary pause in their studies is only around 1-2%, and these occurrences are typically due to strictly personal reasons rather than program-related difficulties. Should any challenges arise, our academic tutors step in immediately to listen to the student’s needs and help them catch up quickly.

#3 What happens if I do not graduate within the expected timeframe?
The SSM methodology recognizes that an MBA candidate is an adult student who balances a full-time job and, in most cases, family responsibilities.

Candidates who choose this program are aiming for a career leap or are sponsored by their employers for a transition into a managerial role. Therefore, they need to make the most efficient use of the time they dedicate to study.

This is where SSM comes in: our entire support network and the inherent flexibility of our programs ensure that your time investment is managed with the highest level of efficiency, guiding you smoothly toward graduation.

To help prospective students clarify their doubts and make informed decisions, we have launched a special summer video series on our social media channels.

The series is hosted by Noemi Bracalè, Social Media Manager of SSM Global and, in these weekly 60-second video clips, she address common questions regarding study methods, course organization, and time management.

But, when it comes to personalized orientation and guidance, however, the word goes directly to Sandra, our Admission Advisor.

To better understand the strategic value of this updated academic offer, we spoke with Sandra Sergio Sotto, Admissions Advisor and Academic Coordinator of the Research Center DBA, who guides candidates through their selection process.

Q: Sandra, what is the core reasoning behind this clear distinction between the MBA and the EMBA?

“The market is not uniform. We meet candidates who need the time to build a broad, strategic foundation, and other professionals who already possess extensive managerial know-how but require a swift, high-impact credential to advance to executive levels. Our diversification ensures we respect our candidates’ time, providing the exact tool they need at the right stage of their career.”

Q: What is the primary advantage of the EMBA for active professionals?

“The EMBA is not just about studying business theories; it is an active exercise in problem-solving. Through the Capstone Project, our students evaluate and challenge their daily work strategies, applying what they learn in class in real time. It serves as an immediate value multiplier for both the student and their organization.”

Q: How does SSM support candidates who are concerned about balancing work, life, and study?

“My role begins by addressing these concerns. Many candidates worry that an MBA is incompatible with their busy schedules, but our flexibility is very real. We work together to design a sustainable plan. Understanding a candidate’s background, professional goals, and actual weekly availability is key to guiding them toward the 18-month MBA or the 12-month Executive program. The success of our institution is reflected in the professional success of our alumni, and our job is to provide them with the optimal conditions to graduate successfully.”

Choosing the right program for your goals is essential, and our team is here to assist you with any additional information or clarification you might need.

Feel free to book an individual consultation with Sandra, our Admission Advisors or, if you’re ready, apply now and start your journey with SSM. We look forward to welcoming you to SSM and supporting you in building your future.
