SSM receives institutional accreditation from MFHEA

The Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) is the national external quality assurance agency for higher education in Malta.

It is officially recognized by several important quality networks and organizations:

  • – National authority under the Government of Malta: MFHEA is the legally mandated regulator for all further and higher education institutions in Malta.
  • - European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR): MFHEA is listed in EQAR, meaning it is recognized as an official quality assurance agency in line with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).
  • – European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA): MFHEA is a full member, which signals compliance with European quality assurance best practices.

Through its EQAR/ENQA recognition, MFHEA is indirectly recognized across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), making Maltese-accredited degrees compatible with the Bologna Process framework.

Since MFHEA is listed in EQAR and is a full ENQA member, its accreditation decisions are accepted across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

This means Maltese qualifications are aligned with the Bologna Process, using tools like:

  • – The European Qualifications Framework (EQF)
  • – The Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF), which is referenced to EQF
  • – Result: Maltese-accredited degrees are widely recognized across Europe for employment, mobility, and further study (e.g., recognition by NARIC centers).
